Description
I saw this cow in Yellowstone Park last summer right along the road. The buffalo were crossing and I parked and took pictures out the window. She looked at me right in the eye and seemed full of contempt for me just being there. She was so lawless and spoke to me of her timeless wild spirit. I knew I would try to capture that in paint.

She does look as if she knows her own mind. Your strongly textured style captures this magnificent beast perfectly. Congratulations on your 3rd place win in the recent Prairie Wildlife contest.

This is a really fine work Mia. I was cruising through the contests and saw the Prairie Wildlife one. I knew you had to be in on that one and sure enough, you were right at the top of the leaderboard. This is the best work of the all in that contest, by far. LF!!

Outstanding!! Mia, I Love your use of color and impasto, and your drawing ability is phenomenal!! L&F
Mia DeLode replied:
Thanks, Doug! I'm just trying to figure the impasto part out and really having fun with it--and a BIG thank you for checking out my drawing! I like to think that a painterly painting still needs to start out with a good foundation :)

awesome painting Ive seen Bison across the plains and northward and southward and their power and speed is amazing truly an iconic presence of the plains you really captured its portrayal well f/v
Mia DeLode replied:
Thank you so much, Joe! I really tried to capture the raw wildness so inherent to this cow. I truly appreciate you letting me know I did alright : )

Wow! I love the 'look'. Great job on the eyes.
Mia DeLode replied:
Thanks, Rick! She was a regal, very wild cow and I sooo wanted to get it right. Thanks for letting me know I did :)
